In Between Sound and Communication: The Problem of Performative Language in Cheng-Ta Yu’s On Set in the City
在聲音與溝通之間:《城市預演:余政達作品展》的語言展演性問題
April 11th, 2013Type: Performance
Author: Wang, Po-wei Editor: Rikey Tenn
Quote From: 《城市預演:余政達作品展》
Note: On Set in the City exhibits the works created by Yu, Cheng-Ta during the period of his residency in Aomori in, Wellington, Auckland, and Macao. The series of his works clearly demonstrate Yu’s deep concern about the performativity of language. By differentiating between voice and words as well as between words’ significance and their materiality, these works not only illustrate the relationship among words, symbols, and performativity, but also pave the way for the artist to ponder on the questions about presence and scene.
