Image Act: Review on Musquiqui Chihying’s “Figure, Flash, Camera”
圖像在行動:致穎《像,閃光,攝影機》脈絡意識
April 18th, 2017Type: Image
Author: Wang, Po-wei Editor: Rikey Tenn
Quote From: 《藝術家》2017年
Note: Musquiqui Chihying’s solo exhibition “Figure, Flash, Camera” includes ‘Figure’ (2017), ‘Camera (36)’ (2016), ‘Camera (16)’ (2016), and ‘Flash’ (2017), which all address the reactions of the photographed in front of the camera. The author, Wang, Po-wei, cites the concept of “Image Act” by Horst Bredekamp to respond to the exhibition, and he proposes that an image is more than just a medium but the speaker, and it has to be accessed in the context of its relations with the viewers in every moment as well as its limitations.
