ISSUE 32 : Art and Commitment
Towards a Political Coordinate where Art and Sustainability Intersect
朝向藝術與永續交會的政治象限
April 25th, 2017Type: Opinion
Author: 吳虹霏
Note: In the current context of sustainability, even though humans are aware of the correlations between environments, societies & economy, we‘re still trapped in progressive thinking, thus lacking deeper understanding of the human minds. Therefore, art is here to continue hollering, and intervene in the minds & lives of human beings in the void where scientific discussions truant. The 2011 “Connect2Culture” report by Asia-Europe Foundation mentions the wording & discourse of sustainability, and reaffirm: "Future discussions need to address how culture can become the 4th pillar of sustainable development... these values are intrinsic to Asian traditions.” However, these are still founded upon western hierarchical classification with developmentalism.
