Note: The article explores how machinery device may provide alternative ways for us to rethink art history. Examples include the industrial robot displayed in Metamorphosis: Titian (2012) at the National Gallery, London, and the robot used for exploration missions in the project After Dark at Tate Britain. Compared to Epstein's sculpture made of a real rock drill and a half-robot figure, two recent examples have changed our imagination of "a robot in the art museum". They're not only works that provide futuristic imaginations, but a relational structure that deals with historical materials based on the art history.
